Salvador  (Overview)

Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia. The city of Salvador-Bahia has a population greater than 2714018 inhabitants and is the third most populous city in Brazil (The first and second most populous of the state of Bahia are the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro).

Salvador is one of the major tourist destinations in Brazil and is known as the land of joy. It is the second destination most sought by non-brazilian tourists (Rio de Janeiro is the first destination), according to data from the EMTURSA.

The people of Bahia is very happy, creative, musical and with a rich popular culture. The city of Salvador is recognized by the originality of their songs, cooking and religion, is the place of origin of major artists with deep national and international prominence. Salvador has an incredible variety of rhythms.
