Miguel Calmon  (Overview)


Miguel Calmon is located some thirty kilometers south of Jacobina, at the entrance to the Chapada Diamantina. The city´s origins are in 1812, when a plantation called "Fazenda Cana Brava" was divided up into plots for sale. Thereafter the town that grew up there was called "Cana Brava" until its corporation in 1924, when it took the name of the governor´s brother, "Miguel Calmon".
