Itacimirim Beach - Photo taked from a pousada.

The beach of Itacimirim is great for baths and his name was given by the Indians: according to some people, Itacimirim means "little ant", as other means "small stone", finally, what we can conclude is that it was a name given by Indians, and that the name itacimirim mean exactly? In my opinion, Itacimirim means a beautiful beach, near the international airport of Salvador (48Km), also near the Praia do Forte (7Km), where you can have peace and tranquility, and still can enjoy the great nights in Praia do Forte (and pay much less than if pay in hosting in Praia do Forte).

Itacimirim is a small paradise with charming beaches and inlets of the North Coast of Bahia.

Itacimirim is Visited by tourists of Salvador from the years 70, when little is mentioned about Praia do Forte, the only hotel in the region was in Itacimirim. Visitors coming Itacimirim through roads difficult to access and had to cross the river with the help of boats, all to live a weekend special.

Currently access to Itacimirim is very good, with good highway near the sea and not is more necessary to use boats. Itacimirim is a beautiful place with easy access. Moreover, Itacimirim already has several options of hotels, inns and villages.

Itacimirim has signal for mobile operators of all existing Bahia.

Parallel to the beaches of Itacimirim, are located several freshwater lakes. That is, there is a line of the beach, then a line inhabited (houses, inns, villages, etc.). Then lagoons.

The waters of the basins of Itacimirim are from the Rio Jacuípe, which cross the lagoons of Guarajuba, receiving yet another demand of small tributaries that fall from the mountains. The waters are the lagoon and encounter the river Pojuca, and close your mouth, offering opportunities there refreshing facilities and fishing. The lagoon is habitat of herons, fish, shrimp and various species of batráquios. An excellent choice for leisure and healthy exercise is itself running or pedal around the lagoons.

In addition to the lagoons, Itacimirim has five beautiful beaches, they are:

The first beach of Itacimirim, is as attractive to Barra do Rio Pojuca with its rapids-rich Pitus (Lagosta Water sweet-very tasty) and a primorosa mouth surrounded by sand, mangroves, coqueirais and tents of beach, which give the place a beauty special. This is the mouth leaving the canoes that take the tourists to the rapids.

The Praia da Espera (beach's waiting):
The fourth beach of Itacimirim, stand out by the natural beauty of the port where is the anchored fishing boats. The fishermen say that because it is the only "true port" of the whole region-time ago when the sea was difficult, and it was not possible to return to the boats by other points, this beach was that women of fishermen came wait them. Hence the name Praia da Espera (beach's waiting).

The Praia da Espera has natural pools formed by coral reefs, and many colorful fish, leading many people to dive with snorkel to observe them. With less than one miles of this point is a ship naufragado, which offers excellent opportunities for diving.

The Praia da Espera also allows other water sports such as surfing, windsurfing, sailing with hobbycat and spool of fishing are practiced here. The wind is almost always favorable and is easy to enter into the sea with board or boat.
