GUARAJUBA BEACH

Guarajuba is a district of a Camaçari city, Metropolitan Region of Salvador, 42km from the north of the International Airport of Salvador, and 18km before Praia do Forte, Guarajuba has as it access the Estrada do Coco (Coconut Road), Road BA-009 and it is characterized for the beautiful landscape, where the elements of nature, flora and fauna, certify the rich local environment.

Guarajuba was a villa of fishermen in the past and it still keeps this rustic profile in some parts, mainly on the beach known as Praia do Porto de Guarajuba, where the fishermen are more concentrated nowadays. In this area, the fishing boats anchored create a poetic atmosphere, mainly by the end of the day, when the tide is low.

The word Guarajuba comes of the Tupi-Guarani language and means Golden Garça, the bird very common in the region of the lagoons that for being so important for the ecosystem in its diversity of flora and fauna, is part of an Area of Ambient Protection-Lagoons of Guarajuba. This protected area propitiates shelter and food to the fauna, in special, the aquatic birds. The region encloses a great urban extension, therefore it becomes to be necessary the conservation of the existing natural resources.

Guarajuba is a health-resort well-structuralized, possessing crystalline water beaches and calm sea, due to protection of the barriers of reefs, which form natural calm swimming pools, indicated for children bathing, swimming and to admire the sea fauna in the walls of chorales: pinaúma (ouriço of the sea), crab, small fish among others.

In the area more ahead of its edge, is placed an excellent beach for the practical of nautical sports (like surf and windsurf) giving the visitors also the chance of fishing together with local and experienced fishermen and diving as well. It is the known Surf Beach, much looked by the young ones that love these so healthful sports to the human being.

Guarajuba consists in one of the most flaring scenes throughout the Costa dos Coqueiros (Coconut Palms Coast). Its maritime edge is endowed with total organization. The beach tents are standardized and serve very well the inhabitants and the weekend’s visitors, as well as the tourist of all over Brazil and originating of varied countries, like, for example, Germans, Italians, Spaniard, Americans, Argentines, Portuguese and others.
