Arembepe Beach  (Overview)

Arembepe is a district of the city of Camaçari. It was discovered by hippies in the decade of 70, time when famous people passed by here. As an example of the first famous people to visit this place can quote: Janis Joplin, Roman Polanski, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.



Arembepe has beautiful natural pools on the beach and a beautiful lake, the Lake of Rio Capivara.



In Arembepe is located the first hippie community in Brazil, the Village of Caratingui, which currently is a major tourist attraction of Arembepe.



In Arembepe, is located one of the bases of the project TAMAR, and for this reason, some stretches of beaches are restricted to the spawning of sea turtles.



The main economic activities of Arembepe are fishing and tourism.
